History of Cheung Kong Graduate School

of Business

Established in Beijing in November 2002 with support from the Li Ka-Shing Foundation, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business is China’s first faculty-governed and independent business school. Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business boasts more than 40 full-time professors, many of whom previously held tenured faculty positions at leading business schools such as Wharton and Yale. Their research has provided the basis for more than 400 case studies of both China-specific and global issues. Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business also stands apart for its unmatched alumni network. More than half of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business’s 10,000+ alumni are at the CEO or Chairman level and, collectively, they lead one-fifth of China’s 100 most valuable brands.

Headquartered in Beijing, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business is also located in Shanghai, Shenzhen, New York, Hong Kong, and London. The school offers the following innovative courses: MBA, Finance MBA, Executive MBA, Business Scholars Program (DBA), and Executive Education programs.

Case Centers

Founded in 2003, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business Case Center is committed to the research and production of business case studies. Our case studies showcase the competitive advantages of a wide range of businesses in China, and our portfolio has become one of the school’s vital knowledge assets.

With 400 published cases, we are proud that each one is based on a deep understanding of the China market and executed according to rigourous research standards. Every case development project is headed up by a Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business professor. The Case Center itself is directed by Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business Professor Li Wei, an acclaimed macroeconomics researcher.

Business Conditions Index

The Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business Business Conditions Index is a set of forward-looking, diffusion indices. The index takes 50 as its threshold, so an index value above 50 means that the variable that the index measures is expected to increase, while an index value below 50 means that the variable is expected to fall. The Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business BCI thus uses the same methodology as the PMI index.
